Hello everyone!
Long time no blog…. or anything online!
It’s a long story, but I’ve been dealing with health issues, career advancement, quarter-life crisis, new responsibilities and some soul seeking for the past 8 months or so. Amongst the compilation of problems/issues, my online life was lingering as a big question mark. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with my online life. Quit and disappear? Continue limping and produce mediocre crap? I couldn’t make up my mind so I deliberately avoided any contact with the online beauty community until I sorted out my personal issues. Now, I feel like I’m 95% there (in terms of sorting things out), and I’m concluding my long journey of confusion and frustration.
I was pondering really hard if I should even bother making videos and posting on my blog again, as I felt irrelevant to the community. I had phased out and stopped, while the entire community had kept moving forward. It would have been a big deal to me 8 months ago. I would have been stressed out of not making videos, for not posting anything on the blog and not being able to keep up with my expectations I had set for myself. During the past few months I’ve made peace with myself and started to loosen up a lot of things that had been holding me behind. I came to a realization that I had started with somewhat of a naive enthusiasm and that happiness was the biggest driving factor. I had to step out, clear my head and figure out what really mattered to me. Long story short, the conclusion was really clear – as long as I’m happy and not bothered, I shall keep doing!
Anyway, this is just a rambling post to tell you guys that cl2425 is back as v2.0 (cheesy, heh, but I even put a tiny v 2.0 next to my blog banner :p).
Nothing major is going to change, but my focus will probably shift heavily towards the ‘career/working girl’ realm as that is my reality for now (FOR NOW – I plan to change this situation too).
I still love makeup, fashion, hair, k-pop, any asian pop culture bits, celebrities and the fun stuff I used to like. It’s just… you won’t see me recommending blue eye shadow or circle lenses for work appropriate makeup.. or silly things like that.

So glad to see you back! Your youtube channel and blog have been a long staple in my internet life, and somehow I just feel like my internet life (and those of others) would be much less fulfilling if you were not a part of it. I'm glad you've had a chance to step back and take a look at your priorities in life, and I'm even happier to see that you've decided to continue your stay in our lives!

I'm so happy you're back!! :)) oh, and please, please, please stop thinking of what you produce online as "mediocre work". Really, your videos are great and high quality. Even if i compare your videos to a lot of other famous beauty bloggers', you would still belong on my top list. And, to be honest, i would still watch whatever kind of videos you choose. Wether it be fun and rando or helpful and relevant or girly or whatever, I mean, you could even be talking abt, say, bird fleas and i'd bet to you i'll be watching that. That's because i love you as the person you are (from what you've chosen to show us) and i keep coming back because of your lovely personality! And for that reason alone, i would choose you over a helluva lot of other youtubers! I've missed you Catalina!

As you can see here you've been greatly missed. I know life happens and our focuses change. Sorry to hear that the past many months have been difficult for you, but I'm glad to see you back and still up and at them. I while back I had decided to start filming Youtube videos. I had reached out to all my favourite beauty gurus at the time, and guess what…..you were the only one that messaged me back! Not only that but you were also my first subscriber. I'm sure you don't remember but it meant so much to me. Maybe you are not aware of the impact you have on others or how you inspire, but believe me you are not putting out "mediocre content" out there. We are reading and we are watching and we appreciate the advice you give. Mind you I have since stopped filming Youtube videos and am now concentrating on my blog. I'm a better writer than a "TV host". But that just goes to show you need to just figure out what you're good at and what makes you happy and just run with it. Looking forward to seeing more from you and how you have grown.

I honestly feel like other youtube makeup gurus are just getting overly sponsored by everything and I always enjoyed how honest you were. Good to hear from you again! I think it's actually a good thing that you have taken a break from the beauty community and focus on your own life. I've feel that many youtubers (beauty gurus included) are under a lot of stress about keeping up with the community and maintaining their enthusiasm for making videos. I think because of that the current youtube content are often incredibly repetitive and lack innovation because youtubers are pressured to pump out new videos on a regular basis and take on new projects in order to pay bills and stay relevant.
I'm glad that you still treat youtube as a hobby after all these years. I think youtube was at its best when everyone was having fun making videos.
